The Role
As the Fabrication Team Leader, you will be the cornerstone of our welding and fabrication department. You will supervise and mentor a dedicated team of fabricators, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety. Your leadership will directly impact the structural integrity and performance of every piece of Davimac machinery.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, train, and manage a team of fabrication professionals, fostering a collaborative, productive, and safety-conscious work environment.
Quality Control: Oversee all fabrication processes (cutting, welding, assembly) to ensure strict adherence to engineering drawings, specifications, and Davimac's quality standards.
Production Scheduling: Coordinate with the Production Manager to schedule workflow, allocate resources effectively, and meet challenging production deadlines.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in fabrication techniques, tooling, and workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
Safety Compliance: Ensure the team operates in full compliance with all WHS regulations and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop.
Technical Expertise: Act as the technical expert for complex fabrication tasks, troubleshooting issues, and providing hands-on guidance.
What You Bring:
We are looking for a hands-on leader with a strong background in heavy fabrication, ideally within the agricultural, mining, or heavy vehicle industries.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience (3+ years) in a supervisory or team leader role within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication/Welding (or equivalent).
Exceptional knowledge of various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, etc.) and materials (steel, high-tensile steel).
Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage production flow, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
